May I have your permission to re-print your article on “Chop-N-Freeze”? All credits would go to you. I’m having a Bird Mart in Kerrville, Texas & I’d like to have as much educational material as I can.
    Thank you,
    Stella Selby

    A Thank You mail! ☺️

    Hi ! 😁

I’m a girl from Denmark, so I really hope you can understand my poor english.

I just want to let you know, how MUCH I really appreciate your website! ☺️

Me, and my parrotlets thanks you so, so, SO MUCH! – for your creative and GREAT Diy ideas for toys, playgrounds, and so much more.
I really can’t thank you enough, for all the fun and happiness your recepies have given my birds, – and therefor also me! 😁

Though I should’nt ask for it, – I really could use some of your great creative skills ☺️!

I use many money to buy the shredding toys called:
    – “shredders” and “finger traps”.

Sadly, I can’t buy the toys in Denmark, so every time I have to buy the things over seas, in a far away country, for a pricy shipping cost as Well.

So, this is were you come in the picture, my friend 😁!
It would make my parrots and my life so much better and easier, if I just could make the stuff myself.
But sadly, I’m afraid and sad that I just DON’T have your fantastic crafting skills. 😞
    – But you have!

Since I will safe a lot of money on buying and shipping the shredders, I would very much like to pay you for making the recepies to me.
    – I think the way to make the two shredders, you have to wove them, in some kind of way?
    But, – what do I know, you’re the expert! 😊 😁

I hope that you will help me, and I can pay you for the your help? ☺️

I’ve added some pictures of the two things, I hope you can help me with, – and use your amazing skills, to come up with some sort of “woven” recepie for? ☺️

Thank you so much for time, – and for your help!! 😊

    Kind regards,
    Chridtine ☺️

    – By the way, – I have read on the internet, that both the “shredders” and the “finger traps”, often is made with Palm leafes.
That is – again πŸ˜’πŸ˜” – not available in my country as Well, and I can’t seem to find it in any stores online, eather. πŸ˜–

    – So I was hoping, if you also, – please ☺️, – could tell me some other safe materials (like maybe news paper, for example?) or other safe materials, I can use to make the toys from?

Hi Christine! So sorry it took me so long to reply to you. I have been so busy at work that I haven’t kept up my blog at all this year. I’m so glad you’ve found it helpful, though. Thanks for the kind offer to pay me to make toys for you. Unfortunately, I really don’t have time to do that, as I barely have time to make toys for my own birds these days! However, I do have an idea for you: This is a link with instructions on how to make a rope toy for a dog by creating a series of square knots:

I bet you could cut paper into long strips and make a paper “rope” by tying the paper into a series of square knots! Of course, you’d have to make the knots loose, since the paper would tear if you tried to knot it as tightly as fabric. But looser knots would probably be more fun for birds to shred, too.

A even simpler idea would be to cut paper into very thin strips (if you have a paper shredder, that would be the perfect width for what I’m thinking of), gather the strips up into a bunch, then tie them in the middle with twine or raffia. It wouldn’t be in a knot pattern like the paper shredders are, but it would still be fun for them to preen and chew on.

Let me know how things go as you experiment with these ideas! And if you come up with any ideas of your own, I hope you’ll share them with me!
